Square One is a privately owned and funded, Bristol-based, full-solution, B2B telecommunications company. In short, we provide complete telecoms services to a wide variety of business customers.

Since our inception in 2010, we have grown from a one-man band to a team of great people that provides focused solutions for mobile and fixed line services, across many sectors and throughout the UK.

2010

The beginning

We’ve come a long way since the early days, that’s for sure. Our CEO, Mike O’Shea, started Square One as a simple mobile phone dealer by building a divider wall in his front room to create an office.

2011

O2 UK

With O2 UK we ran a very successful pilot program, working with their retail team to help farm possible business leads through their store network. O2 estimated the value of this program to be worth c200,000 new connections p.a.

2012

O2 Ireland

In 2012, we became O2 Ireland’s sole partner in the UK, managing their Irish customers’ UK operations. We excelled in this position by mirroring the high customer service levels demanded in Ireland and providing this level of service to their users here in the UK.

2013

Credit Checking

In 2013, we noticed that many Irish businesses couldn’t get credit for business mobiles in the UK, as they had no UK credit history. For this reason, we stopped credit vetting Irish customers for O2 Ireland. This resulted in thousands of new numbers coming over to Square One.

2015

Full Reseller

We changed from being a dealer to a full reseller – it was at this point that we began issuing our own bills to our customers.

Three Ireland

Hutchison bought O2 Ireland, which in turn became Three Ireland. Our partnership continued through this transition and has gone from strength to strength. It has delivered us a  profitable and ever-growing revenue stream, and a customer base with a current contract value in excess of £8m.

2016

Our Own Network

We started our own mobile network, Square One.Network, as a Three UK MVNO.

2017

New Head Office

We moved into our very first long-term office, where the magic has continued to happen since. We’re in a great spot here in Bradley Stoke; right next to the motorway junction for an easy commute and free parking on-site for the team.

2018

Software as a Service

We invested in a new industry-leading CRM, a cutting-edge billing platform and became Cyber Essentials certified – all to ensure that we can provide our customers the best service possible.

Now

We’ve more than tripled in size from a team of 6 to 21, and with the amount of exciting opportunities in the pipeline our growth is showing no signs of slowing down.
