Gammaball Rally

Driving More Than Awareness

Anyone who has followed the Gamma Ball Rally over the years will know it’s famous for its creativity. Teams transform ageing cars into everything from cartoon characters to giant props, complete with humorous names, costumes and eye-catching liveries. It’s all part of what makes the event such a unique occasion.

We discussed taking a similar approach ourselves. After all, if you’re driving a 38-year-old Citroën 2CV across Europe, why not have a bit of fun with it?

But the more we talked about it, the more we realised this was an opportunity to do something that felt much more authentic to Square One Network.

Rather than creating a novelty rally car, we decided to proudly wrap our 2CV in full Square One Network branding.

More Than a Marketing Exercise

At first glance, it might seem like an obvious branding opportunity, but our decision had very little to do with advertising. The Gamma Ball Rally brings together businesses from across the communications industry to raise money for charity, work together, embrace a challenge and build lasting relationships. Those values mirror the way we’ve always tried to build Square One Network.

Over the years we’ve focused on creating long-term partnerships with our customers, supporting charities and community initiatives, investing in our people and building a business we’re genuinely proud of. Taking part in the rally felt like a natural extension of those values.

If we’re asking people to support our fundraising efforts and follow our journey, we wanted them to see the company exactly as it is – no gimmicks, no alter ego, just the Square One Network team doing something extraordinary for two fantastic causes.

Bristol’s Best Kept Secret

Ask our Managing Director, Dave Allen, what he’d most like to change about Square One Network and his answer probably isn’t what you’d expect. Despite supporting hundreds of businesses across the South West and South Wales, winning industry awards and building strong partnerships with companies such as

Gamma, Dave still describes Square One as “Bristol’s best kept secret.”

It’s a phrase he uses with equal measures of pride and frustration. Pride because the business has grown through reputation, recommendations and long-term customer relationships. Frustration because too many businesses still don’t know who Square One Network is or what we stand for.

“We’ve built a fantastic business with an incredible team and amazing customers. We’ve won awards, formed great partnerships and continue to grow, but there are still so many businesses that haven’t heard of Square One Network. I’d love to change that over the next few years.”

The Gamma Ball Rally gives us a chance to do exactly that.

Taking Our Story on the Road

Over the coming weeks our little 2CV will be visiting landmarks across Bristol, Gloucestershire, Somerset, South Wales and beyond before heading off across Europe.

Every stop is another opportunity to start a conversation, support two incredible charities and introduce someone new to Square One Network.

Of course, we’d love the car to raise a smile. We’d love people to take photographs, share them on social media and give us a wave if they see us out and about.

But more than anything, we hope it gives people a reason to discover the business behind the branding.

If someone spots the car, visits our website for the first time or starts a conversation with one of the team because of it, then it will have achieved far more than simply getting us from A to B.

A Journey Worth Sharing

The Gamma Ball Rally has always been about much more than driving from one place to another. It’s about teamwork, raising money for worthwhile causes and making memories along the way.

Our team – Managing Director Dave Allen, Billing & Finance Director Paul Kinneir and Head of Colouring In Craig Walden – are proud to be taking on the challenge on behalf of everyone at Square One Network.

So, if you spot our little Citroën 2CV over the next few weeks, come and say hello. We’ll happily tell you about the charities we’re supporting, the adventure ahead and why we’re so passionate about ensuring that Square One Network is no longer Bristol’s best kept secret.
