At Square One Network, we spend a lot of time talking about people.
Not in a fluffy way. In a very real, day‑to‑day sense. The people who answer the phone when something breaks. The people who turn up on site. The people who carry the Square One name into customer meetings, events and industries where trust is everything.
So, when we decided to refresh our team uniform, it wasn’t about “swag”, branding for the sake of it, or ticking a box.
It was about belonging, pride, practicality and doing things properly.
We didn’t want a uniform dictated from the top
Too often, uniforms are chosen in a boardroom and then inflicted on the people who have to wear them every day.
We deliberately took a different route. From the very start, our team was involved in choosing:
- the look and style
- the fit (including proper male, female and unisex options)
- the colourway
- and crucially, the comfort and practicality
This wasn’t about making people look the same. It was about giving the team something they’d actually want to wear – on customer sites, at events, and even on the way home.
That philosophy matters to us, and it’s something Black Mountain, a fellow C2S member, immediately understood.
Why Black Mountain?
We didn’t just pick a supplier. We chose a partner.
From our first visit to the Black Mountain factory, it was clear they cared about the same things we do:
- Quality first
- Long-term relationships, not quick wins
- Taking the time to get it right
- Transparency on fit, materials and production
They didn’t rush us. They didn’t push what was easiest for them. They asked the right questions and listened carefully to what we were trying to achieve.
This is exactly how we try and communicate with our customers.
Practical, professional, and built to last
Our industry is hands-on. Our team move between desks, sites, meetings and events – sometimes all in the same day.
The uniform needed to:
- look professional
- feel comfortable for long days
- handle real work, not just photos
- and stand up to regular wear and washing
By working closely with Black Mountain through samples, sizing sessions and real‑world testing, we landed on a range that genuinely works for how our team operates – polos, sweatshirts, softshells and outer layers that feel purposeful rather than “corporate costume”.
Sustainability wasn’t an afterthought
We didn’t want fast fashion with our logo slapped on.
Longevity, responsible sourcing and reducing waste were all part of the conversation – from durable fabrics to avoiding constant reorders of poor-quality garments.
Choosing a uniform that lasts longer is better for the environment and for our people. It’s also simply the right thing to do as a growing business that wants to act responsibly.
A small thing that says a lot
A uniform won’t define a company. But it does say something.
It says:
- we invest in our people
- we care how we show up
- we value consistency without killing individuality
- and we’re proud of the team we’ve built
For us, this wasn’t just a rebrand or a refresh. It was another small step in building a business where people enjoy coming to work and feel proud to represent Square One Network.
Big thanks to Black Mountain for treating this as more than an order number – and to our team for helping shape something that genuinely feels like us.
