Gammaball Rally

A 38-year-old Citroën 2CV, a team adventure and two fantastic charities

At Square One Network, we’ve always believed that business should be about more than products and services. It’s about people, relationships and making a positive difference.

That’s why we’re delighted to announce that this September we’ll be taking part in the Gamma Ball Rally 2026 – one of the telecoms industry’s most iconic charity events.

Our team will be setting off in a beautifully restored 1988 Citroën 2CV, heading across Europe with one goal in mind: raising money for two incredible charities while creating memories that will last a lifetime.

More than just a road trip

The Gamma Ball Rally has become something of a legend within the telecoms industry, bringing together businesses from across the channel to tackle an unforgettable journey in vehicles that are often more character than horsepower.

For Square One Network, this isn’t simply about driving an old car across Europe. It’s about strengthening our team, embracing a challenge together and supporting causes that genuinely make a difference.

Managing Director Dave Allen explains:

“I’ve been aware of the Gamma Ball Rally for many years, but it’s only recently that I’ve realised how important these experiences are. As you get older, you appreciate the balance between working hard and making time for experiences that bring people together.

Corporate social responsibility has become a huge part of what we do. We’ve organised charity golf days, sponsored events, baked cakes, completed walks and supported numerous fundraising initiatives. The Gamma Ball Rally felt like the natural next step.”

Why a Citroën 2CV?

Of course, if you’re going to tackle hundreds of miles across Europe, you may as well do it in something memorable.

Our choice of vehicle isn’t just because the 2CV is one of France’s most recognisable cars. It also holds personal significance for Dave.

“My father owned a 2CV when I was a child and always used to tell me how much fun it was. It brings back great memories, and it just seemed right that if we’re heading through France, we should do it in a proper French icon.”

The car certainly attracts attention wherever it goes. Whether it makes it all the way without needing mechanical assistance remains to be seen!

Dave has joked, “None of us knows one end of a spanner from the other, so we might be asking the RAC if they’d like to follow us across Europe!”

Supporting two incredible charities

While there will undoubtedly be plenty of laughs along the way, the purpose of the rally is far more important.

This year’s Gamma Ball Rally is raising funds for two outstanding charities:

Action Through Enterprise (ATE) is a UK charity working alongside communities in Ghana to reduce poverty through education, enterprise and sustainable development, helping people create brighter futures for themselves and future generations.

SpecialEffect transforms the lives of people with physical disabilities by creating innovative ways for them to play video games. Their specialist technology helps improve confidence, independence, communication and quality of life for people facing life-changing physical challenges.

Every mile we cover helps support the incredible work these charities carry out. Scan the QR code to donate.

A partnership built over many years

Taking part in the Gamma Ball Rally also reflects our long-standing relationship with Gamma, one of the UK’s leading business communications providers.

Earlier this year, Square One Network was recognised through the Gamma Velocity Programme, celebrating our continued growth, customer success and commitment to delivering outstanding business communications solutions.

The rally gives us another opportunity to work alongside the wider Gamma community while supporting two fantastic causes.

Follow the journey

Over the coming weeks we’ll be sharing:

  • Behind-the-scenes preparation of the 2CV
  • Team updates as we get rally-ready
  • Fundraising activities
  • Plenty of photos and videos from the road
  • The inevitable mechanical dramas (hopefully not too many!)

We’d love you to come along for the ride. Whether you’re cheering us on from the sidelines, supporting our fundraising or simply following the adventure on social media, every bit of encouragement helps.

Here’s hoping our little 2CV makes it all the way to the finish line!
