At Square One Network, supporting the communities around us has always been about more than simply doing business locally. It’s about backing the people, charities and organisations that make a genuine difference across the South West.
That’s why we’re proud to be headline sponsors for the upcoming St Davids to Hartpury Cycle Challenge – an ambitious 170-mile charity ride bringing together staff, students, governors and supporters from Hartpury University and Hartpury College to raise money for the incredible charity, Goals Beyond Grass.
A Challenge with Real Purpose
Taking place over three days, the challenge will see participants cycle from St Davids in Wales back to Hartpury’s Gloucestershire campus, covering approximately 170 miles while raising awareness and vital funding for inclusive sport and wellbeing initiatives.
The event highlights the power of community collaboration, with businesses, supporters and volunteers all coming together behind a shared cause.
The Difference Goals Beyond Grass Makes
Goals Beyond Grass is a Gloucestershire-based charity that uses sport, physical activity and inclusive opportunities to improve lives across the local community.
The charity works with people of all ages and abilities, creating opportunities for individuals who may otherwise face barriers to participation, social connection and wellbeing. From inclusive cycling and disability sport to wellbeing programmes and community outreach, Goals Beyond Grass helps build confidence, independence, physical health and social inclusion.
Their work reaches far beyond the sports field. For many participants and families, the charity provides a sense of belonging, support and opportunity that can have a lasting impact on everyday life.

A Cause Worth Getting Back on the Bike For
The challenge has also provided a personal motivation for Square One MD Dave Allen, who will be joining Non Executive Director Paul Watson for the final leg of the ride from Abergavenny to Hartpury.
After spending time away from cycling following an accident, Dave has been inspired to get back into training in support of Goals Beyond Grass.
As Dave recently shared:
“Square One Network are really proud to be supporting and sponsoring this ambitious three-day charity cycle challenge for an unbelievable cause. Not only are we sponsoring the event, but Paul Watson and I are taking part in the final day from Abergavenny to Hartpury.
I’ve been out on the bike most mornings this week. I’m beginning to walk a little strangely and my legs are aching, but it’s all for a great cause.”
It’s a great example of how community fundraising initiatives can inspire people to challenge themselves while supporting organisations that make a genuine difference.
Community Support Makes Events Like This Possible
One of the most inspiring aspects of the challenge is the number of organisations rallying behind it.
We’re particularly pleased that Square One customers; Aramark are supporting the event as the hospitality partner and Abbey Business Interiors are also sponsoring the event. It’s a fantastic example of businesses working together to support local causes and create a positive impact beyond the workplace.
At Square One Network, we believe successful businesses have a responsibility to contribute positively to the communities they serve. Whether that’s supporting charities, local events, educational organisations or fundraising initiatives, these partnerships help create lasting benefits for the region as a whole.
