The last few years have presented work culture shifts, unlike anything we’ve seen in such a short space of time prior. The lockdowns forced everyone to go home, and business owners are finding that it’s not so easy to tempt them back full time. Not that many are trying, anyway.

In a global study by WeForum in 2021, British participants were asked how many days they would prefer to work from home once the restrictions were over. Interestingly, the results were balanced along the spectrum. 27% said they wished to work from home all five days. 24% said they don’t want to work from home at all. And the remainder sat somewhere in the hybrid sphere.

This is where the “new normal” comes in: long-term hybrid work.

As most of us know, the concept of hybrid work is not new. It wasn’t conceived during the pandemic however the expectations of workers globally to enforce a hybrid work standard is a new phenomenon. With a global workforce behind it, we can be sure it’s not going to change now.

All that’s left to do is get on board. The biggest challenge for businesses is to iron out the kinks.

Finding the right tools for the hybrid work environment

Telecom solutions are the backbone of business operations. The right solution can help your business maintain long-term hybrid workforces, with employees connecting from near and far.

For some, that may mean moving entirely to remote work. For others, it means a hybrid model of remote and on-site work. Either way, your telecommunications solutions need to be adaptable and flexible to meet the constantly shifting dynamic of your workforce.

For this, you need to operate in the cloud.

Cloud communications aid hybrid working for both office and remote workers. By storing data and communications in the cloud, businesses can work from anywhere with a workforce able to connect no matter where they are.

A cloud-based solution will also give you the agility to quickly add or remove users as your business needs change. You can scale up or down without having to worry about excess capacity or wasted resources.

What’s more, you can take your phone system with you if you ever need to move offices. Or, even better, you can ditch the central office entirely and pick locations up and put them down as desired.
